Is Pope Francis Laying The Groundwork For A One World Religion?

Does Pope Francis intend to help the global elite achieve their goal of uniting all of the religions of the world under a single banner?

Pope Francisby Michael Snyder
End of The American Dream
April 14, 2013

Will he be instrumental in establishing a single global religion for the glorious “new age” that the global elite believe is coming?  After he was elected, the cover of Time Magazine declared Pope Francis to be the “New World Pope“, and since his election Pope Francis has made it abundantly clear that he is going to make ecumenical outreach a top priority.

He has spoken of his “determination to continue on the path of ecumenical dialogue“, and he has already held a number of very high profile ecumenical meetings.  Not only has he worked hard to reach out to leaders from various Christian traditions, he has also made it a point to try to acknowledge the mutual bonds that he feels with all other religions.

For example, in one recent address he made it a point to say that he believes that Muslims worship and pray to the “one God” that he also worships.  This “all roads lead to the same God” philosophy is a hallmark of the one world religion that the global elite have been slowly building toward for decades.  The global elite know that even with a one world economy and a one world government, humanity will never be truly united until there is a single global religion.

Unfortunately, this one world religion that they are seeking to establish is diametrically opposed to the Christianity that we find in the Bible.  By throwing out Biblical truth for the sake of “friendship between men and women of different religious traditions“, is Pope Francis fundamentally betraying the faith that he claims to represent?

If there is going to be a one world religion, there will have to be a bond formed between Roman Catholicism and Islam.  They are the two largest religious traditions on the planet, and so any truly “global religion” would definitely require the participation of both of them.

That is one reason why what Pope Francis has already had to say about Islam is so noteworthy.  The following comes from remarks that he made during his very first ecumenical meeting

I then greet and cordially thank you all, dear friends belonging to other religious traditions; first of all the Muslims, who worship the one God, living and merciful, and call upon Him in prayer, and all of you. I really appreciate your presence: in it I see a tangible sign of the will to grow in mutual esteem and cooperation for the common good of humanity.

The Catholic Church is aware of the importance of promoting friendship and respect between men and women of different religious traditions – I wish to repeat this: promoting friendship and respect between men and women of different religious traditions – it also attests the valuable work that the Pontifical Council for interreligious dialogue performs.

But are “Allah” and the God of the Bible the same thing?

Of course not.  For example, Christians believe that Jesus Christ is God.  Muslims deny this vehemently.  For much more on why “Allah” and the God of the Bible are not the same, please see this article.

So either Pope Francis is denying the divinity of Jesus Christ, or he is exhibiting a frightening ignorance of basic Christian theology, or there is some other agenda at work here.

During that same ecumenical meeting, Pope Francis also made it a point to state that he feels “close” to those that belong “to any religious tradition”…

In this, we feel close even to all those men and women who, whilst not recognizing themselves belonging to any religious tradition, feel themselves nevertheless to be in search of truth, goodness and beauty, this truth, goodness and beauty of God, and who are our precious allies in efforts to defend the dignity of man, in building a peaceful coexistence among peoples and in guarding Creation carefully.

It is one thing to love people and to seek to build friendships with them, but it is another thing entirely to throw out the most basic beliefs of the faith that you supposedly represent in order to promote a specific agenda.

And Pope Francis definitely appears to have an agenda.  On another occasion, Pope Francis declared that it was time “to intensify dialogue” with other religions, and that he was “thinking particularly of dialogue with Islam.”

But this affinity for Islam did not just begin recently.  The truth is that Pope Francis was working hard to build bridges with Islam even when he was the Archbishop of Buenos Aires

“His humility drew my attention,” Sheik Mohsen Ali, an important Islamic leader in Argentina, told the Buenos Aires Herald. He “always showed himself a friend of the Islamic community.”

And Pope Francis has a reputation for being a cleric that really “knows Islam“…

Sumer Noufouri, secretary-general of the Islamic Center of the Republic of Argentina, told the Buenos Aires Herald that the new pope is a “respectful, pro-dialogue person who knows Islam.”

But of course Pope Francis is not just reaching out to the Islamic world.

He has also been working hard to “intensify dialogue” with other Christian traditions.

In particular, he seems quite interested in improving relations with the Orthodox churches of the east…

Before his address, the pope had a private meeting with Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew from Istanbul, who attended Francis’s inaugural Mass on Tuesday.

It was the first time the spiritual head of Orthodox Christians had attended a Roman pope’s inaugural Mass since the Great Schism between western and eastern Christianity in 1054.

At Wednesday’s meeting, Francis called Bartholomew “my brother Andrew,” a reference to the apostle who was the brother of St. Peter and was the first bishop of the Church of Byzantium.

Francis also held a private session with Metropolitan Hilarion, the foreign minister of the Russian Orthodox Church, the largest in the Orthodox world.

It won’t happen tomorrow, of course, but could Pope Francis be the Pope that brings the Roman Catholics and the Orthodox back together?

And of course a one world religion will not appear overnight either.  There are far too many differences to overcome right now.

But as the world becomes increasingly unstable, people are going to be looking for answers.  After the world is ravaged by economic collapse, food shortages, nightmarish pandemics, unprecedented natural disasters and horrifying wars, will it finally be ready for a one world religion that promises “peace and friendship” among all of the religions of the globe?

This is something to watch for in the years ahead.  The global elite desperately want a single global religion, and they will keep moving things in that direction.

For now, Pope Francis just seems to be laying the groundwork for the one world religion that is coming.  There is a 900-year-old prophecy that indicates that Pope Francis could be the last Pope.  If that prophecy is true, then it will be very important to watch the actions of this Pope very carefully.

So what do you think about all of this?

The Men in Black (MiBS)

Posted on 23 October 2012 by olav

The term Men in Black (MIBs), in popular culture, is used in UFO conspiracy theories to describe men dressed in black suits, sometimes with glowing eyes or other monstrous features, claiming to be government agents who attempt to harass or threaten UFO witnesses into silence. According to Albert K. Bender, their female counterparts are Women in White. “All MIB are not necessarily garbed in dark suits,” writes American researcher Jerome Clark. “The term is a generic one, used to refer to any unusual, threatening or strangely behaved individual whose appearance on the scene can be linked in some fashion with a UFO sighting.”

The phenomenon was initially and most frequently reported in the 1950s and 1960s; it is contemporaneous with many other conspiracy theories.

There are various types of Men in Black encounters, but they typically follow a pattern: after a presumably credible individual reports or witnesses a UFO sighting, the witness is visited by a man or men (they are often said to come in threes) who are often dressed in black suits, lending the reports their name. The men suggest — or the witnesses assume — that the men are government agents. The men often flash convincing-looking badges and demand that the witness recant their story or hand over photographs or physical evidence of a UFO. If the witness refuses or questions their credentials, they often subtly or overtly threaten the witness or their family with bodily harm or other hardship.

The men are often reported as driving large, late-model cars, typically Cadillacs; in rare cases, they are reportedly seen in black helicopters.

While it is not known if these threats have ever been realised, there are largely unsubstantiated reports of hardships and harassment levelled against those who resist. The number of claimants of Men in Black encounters is unknown, and might be rather small. Chevon Wallace writes that “Some of those who write about UFOs and other strange phenomena rather casually mention ‘countless’ cases where people have been visited by Men in Black. In reality these ‘countless cases’ are difficult to pin down. In fact, there really seems to be a rather small number of MIB cases where there are any details available at all.”

Appearance and Behaviour

Some Men in Black are described as essentially normal in appearance, but others are said to be quite strange, either in appearance or behaviour. John Keel thought that many Men in Black were of an “Asian” appearance, though he also thought this description was inadequate, and hinted that some Men in Black may not be human. Bender stated that the MIBs who visited him had glowing eyes which they concealed behind sunglasses. Some accounts record that agents appear to wear make-up, even lipstick, in an attempt to mask their inhuman appearances.

Witnesses sometimes describe Men in Black’s behaviour as odd, or belligerent and threatening. They are often noticeably unfamiliar with everyday etiquette and civility. Some witnesses say that they never blink. They also allegedly speak in archaic or obscure forms of English slang, or use odd sentence structure and grammar, as if English were not their first language. In some cases, they have been reported as using British received pronunciation.

Early accounts

Similarities between Men in Black accounts and earlier tales have been noted by folklorist Thomas E. Bullard, who argues that Men in Black “step into the shoes vacated by angels and demons … modified to reflect extraterrestrial rather than supernatural employment but clearly functionaries in the same mold … Even high gods like Odin … sometimes disguised themselves and roamed the earth to dispense justice or stir up strife … The devil of folklore sometimes rides in a black carriage, the nearest thing to a Cadillac.” (Clark, 323)

While Bullard and others have simply noted the similarities and differences, some ufologists, such as John Keel, have argued that there are explicit connections between older and more recent accounts of black-clad figures: in Keel’s view, the demons of old and the Men in Black of today are one and the same.

Jerome Clark cites Gerald Messadié’s 1973 work “A History of the Devil”, which notes, “sometimes the devil wears green or gray, but mostly he is dressed in black, and always in the fashions of the day.” (Clark, 312)

Messadié relates an account from Norway in 1730. A thirteen-year-old girl told investigators that some years earlier, she had accompanied her grandmother on a trip to meet the devil. On their way they met “three men dressed in black, whom the grandmother referred to as ‘grandfather’s boys.’ Once they arrived and met the devil, grandmother called him ‘grandfather.'”

Mary Jones

In Wales, in the early 1900s, there was a religious revival centred on thirty-eight-year-old Mary Jones. Though in some ways very different from modern UFO or Men in Black reports, this account is intriguing because it is perhaps the earliest account of spooky, black-clad figures explicitly associated with inexplicable lights reported in the skies.

Beyond the usual events associated with revivals, Jones was accompanied by “Mysterious Lights” (Evans, 114) in the night skies, which Evans reports were widely visible to many reputable witnesses and which “follow(ed), preced(ed), or accompanie(d) Mrs. Jones on her journeys.” (Evans, 119) Writer Beriah G. Evans asserted that he saw these aerial lights himself. Residents furthermore reported encounters with a number of “Dread Apparitions” associated with Jones’ revival. (Evans, 114)

One of these dread apparitions has some similarities to later Men in Black accounts: “In the neighbourhood dwells an exceptionally intelligent young woman of the peasant class, whose bedroom has been visited three nights in succession at midnight by a man dressed in black … This figure has related a message to the girl, which, however, she is forbidden to relate.” (Evans, 117-118)

Evans goes on to note that “a similar apparition was seen from different standpoints, but simultaneously” by two witnesses. One of the witnesses “startled (and) uttered an involuntary prayer. Immediately, one of Mrs. Jones ‘Lights’ appeared above, a white ray darting from which pierced the figure, which thereupon vanished.” (Evans, 118)

It is worth noting, however, that these Welsh accounts also feature elements not typically featured in modern UFO or Men in Black accounts. For example, one of the “dread apparitions” was said to transform into “an enormous black dog”. (Evans, 117)

Modern accounts

As noted above, there are relatively few MIB reports which can be verified in any detail — for example, there might be only a handful of cases where names of MIB witnesses are publicly known. A few such cases are noted below.

Maury Island incident: The first Men in Black?

Arguably the first Men in Black report was made shortly after June 21, 1947. On that date, Seaman Harold Dahl claimed to have seen six UFOs near Maury Island, Washington. Dahl, his son, two other men, and Dahl’s dog were on the boat. Dahl took a number of photographs of the UFOs, and reported that one UFO shed some type of hot slag onto his boat. The slag, he said, struck and killed his dog and injured his son.

The next morning, Dahl reported a man arrived at his home and invited him to breakfast at a nearby diner. Dahl accepted the invitation. He described the man as imposing, over six feet tall and muscular, and wearing a black suit. The man drove a new 1947 Buick, and Dahl assumed he was a military or government representative.

While the two men ate, Dahl claimed the man told him details of the UFO sighting, though Dahl had not related his account publicly. Furthermore, the man gave Dahl a non-specific warning—which Dahl took as a threat—that his family might be harmed if he related details of the sighting.

Some confusion and debate over Dahl’s statements has occurred: Dahl would later claim the UFO sighting was a hoax, but he has also claimed the sighting was accurate but that he had claimed it was a hoax to avoid bringing harm to his family.

Bender and Barkerdwmib2.jpg

Alfred K. Bender seized on Dahl’s story and printed it in his newsletter. In 1953, Bender claimed three Men in Black visited him and warned him to stop his UFO research. Bender’s account was popularized in Gray Barker’s 1956 book They Knew Too Much about Flying Saucers.

Historian Mike Dash writes that “One of the first visits from the Men in Black occurred in 1953, when Albert K. Bender, director of the International Flying Saucer Bureau, the largest early UFO organization, was visited by three dark-suited men who, he said, first confided the ‘solution’ of the UFO mystery to him, then threatened him with prison if he told the secret to anyone else. Bender was so scared by the visit that he closed down his bureau and ceased all his active involvement in the world of ufology.” (Dash, 161)

In Flying Saucers and the Three Men in Black (1963), Bender wrote of “three beautiful women, dressed in tight white uniforms.” Like their male counterparts, Women in White also had “glowing eyes”.

Bender’s insistence that he was ordered quiet would become an important feature of UFO lore; the tale was initially spread by Bender’s friend, writer Gray Barker. Clark writes that “Bender’s ‘silencing’ obsessed Barker, who would go on to become a prominent writer, editor and publisher in the fringes of saucerdom.” (Clark, 312) Barker speculated that the “silence group” might not be human, and advised UFO researchers to be cautious.

The 1998 issue of Skeptical Inquirer magazine casts a different light on Barker. The issue featured John C. Sherwood’s article “Gray Barker: My Friend, the Myth-Maker”, which suggests that deliberate hoaxes were responsible for some early Men in Black stories. Sherwood says he was part of the hoax, and cites his own “youthful amorality” and an eagerness to see his fiction published, in that he wrote sensationalistic UFO accounts at Barker’s request. Barker had earlier published one of Sherwood’s tales, which Sherwood altered to give the fiction a “factual” veneer.

In a letter to Sherwood, Barker wrote that Saucer Scoop was printing a piece on Sherwood, calling it “a big deal on you, suggesting you really were hushed by the blackmen. I’ll always be glad to print an article by you if you’ll tell the real (or made up) story of how these strange forces made you quit. You might as well go out of saucers in the usual syndrome.”[1] The “usual syndrome” being warned to keep quiet by sinister men.

“By the mid-1950s,” writes Clark, “the legend of the Men in Black had become fixed in the imaginations of ufology’s more excitable followers.” (Clark, 315) Accounts of Men in Black have been reported since then and continue today.

Dr Herbert Hopkins

A detailed Men in Black account comes from 1976, as related by Dr Herbert Hopkins of Maine. In late 1975, two men—David Stephens and Glen Gray—had reported an odd UFO encounter to several people, including Hopkins.

Some six months after speaking with Stephens and Gray, Hopkins took a telephone call at his home from a man who claimed to represent a UFO research group, and who had heard that Hopkins had spoken to the UFO witnesses. The man asked to interview Hopkins, who agreed to the request. Just moments later, the man knocked at the back door of Hopkins’ home, and Hopkins let him in without asking his name. The man wore a clean, pressed black suit and white gloves and “looked like an undertaker”, said Hopkins. (Dash, 161)

The man was pale and bald, also lacking eyelashes and eyebrows. His lips were bright red. In a dull, monotone voice, the man asked Hopkins about the tale related by Stephens and Gray. Hopkins began relating the account, then at one point, the man’s gloved hand brushed against his face and smeared lipstick from his bright red mouth onto both the man’s white gloves and his pale face.

This bizarre sight snapped Hopkins from the trance-like state he had been in since the man arrived, and Hopkins realized how profoundly strange the entire incident was. “Then came the threats,” writes Dash. The man then made a coin that Hopkins held dematerialize, and then told him that “No one on this plane will ever see that coin again,” seeming to suggest that the man had teleported the coin. (Dash, 162) The man then told Hopkins to destroy his notes and tape recordings of his meetings with Stephens and Gray, or Hopkins’ own heart would disappear just as the coin had.

The man’s voice slowed and he told Hopkins, “My energy is running low. Must leave now. Goodbye.” (Ibid) The man then walked slowly and stiffly out the backdoor towards a bright light. Hopkins never saw the man again; Dash does not note if Hopkins did indeed destroy his notes regarding the UFO sighting.

Peter Rojcewicz

Peter Rojcewicz reported a detailed Men in Black account which occurred while he was researching his Ph. D. thesis in folklore. Like some other Men in Black reports, this one has been interpreted as having its origins not in physical reality, but in an altered state of consciousness.

One afternoon in November 1980, Rojcewicz was in the library of the University of Pennsylvania, seated at a table near a large window. “Without any sound to indicate that someone was approaching me from behind,” said Rojcewicz, “I noticed from the corner of my eye what I supposed was a man’s black pant leg. He was wearing rather worn black leather shoes.” (Clark, 320)

A tall, slender man with deep-set eyes and a dark complexion stood by the table. After gazing out the window for a moment, the man sat near Rojcewicz. His suit was somewhat dingy and oversized, hanging loosely on his slim frame. With a slight “European” accent, the man asked what Rojcewicz was doing; he replied that he was researching similarities between UFO accounts and earlier tales from various folklore traditions. This instigated a brief conversation about UFOs.

The man asked if Rojcewicz thought that UFOs were real. Rojcewicz replied that he was less interested in the physical reality of UFOs than he was in studying UFO accounts and stories from the perspective of a folklorist.

The man suddenly became angry, shouting, “Flying Saucers are the most important fact of the century, and you’re not interested?” Rojcewicz feared that the man was a “lunatic” and tried to “calm him,” after which the man became silent. The man then stood, placed his hand on Rojcewicz’s shoulder and said something like, “Go well in your purpose.” (Clark, 320)

Moments later Rojcewicz grew frightened and anxious as he became aware of how profoundly strange the brief encounter had been. “I got up,” he wrote, “walked two steps in the direction he had left in, and returned to my seat. Got up again. I was highly excited and walked around to the stacks at the reference desk and nobody was behind the desk. In fact, I could see no one at all in the library. I’ve gone to graduate school, and I’ve never been in a library when there wasn’t somebody there! No one was even at the information desk across the room. I was close to panicking and went quickly back to my desk. I sat down and tried to calm myself. In about an hour I rose to leave the library. There were two librarians behind each of the two desks!” (Clark, 320)

Official interest

Clark cites an official response to Men in Black reports which suggests that U.S. government officials gave some credence to accounts of harassment of UFO witnesses by persons claiming to be government officials. In 1967 United States Air Force Colonel George P. Freeman is quoted as saying, “We have checked a number of these cases … By posing as Air Force officials and government agents they are committing a federal offence. We sure would like to catch one.” (Clark, 321)

A classified U.S. Air Force memorandum from 1960 also reinforces the fact that there was high-level interest in reports of impostors: “Information, not verified, has reached HQ USAF that persons pretending to represent the Air Force or other Defense establishments have contacted citizens who have sighted unidentified flying objects. In one reported case an individual in civilian clothes, who represented himself as member of NORAD, demanded and received photos belonging to a private citizen. In another, a person in an Air Force uniform approached local police and other citizens who had sighted a UFO, assembled them in a school room, and told them that they should not talk to anyone about the sighting. All military and civilian personnel and particularly Information Officers and UFO Investigating Officers who hear of such reports should immediately notify their local OSI offices.” (Randles and Hough, 160)

The report of the Condon Committee devotes some eighteen pages to a UFO sighting case from 1965, in which the witness, Rex Heflin, claimed to have been visited by two men who said they were NORAD officials. Heflin, described as a California Department of Transportation “on duty Traffic Investigator” in Santa Ana, California, took three clear photographs of a “metallic looking disk” (and a fourth photograph of what Heflin said was its exhaust plumes) on August 3 1965.

Heflin made multiple copies of the photos and tried to interest government officials or the mass media. He met with limited interest from officials, but the Condon Report does state, however, that popular interest was piqued and “most of Santa Ana was saturated with the UFO pictures.” (Condon, 446)

On the evening of September 22, Heflin reported that “two men, claiming to be from NORAD, arrived at the witnesses’ home and asked to borrow the original Polaroid prints.” (Condon, 449) Heflin turned the first three of the four photos over to the two men. NORAD denied that any of their employees had ever visited Heflin, at least in any official capacity. The three photos were not returned to Heflin until 28 years later when in 1993, Heflin received two phone calls from an unidentified woman telling him to check his mailbox where he found the three photos in an unmarked 9×12 inch manila envelope.

Citing inconsistencies in Heflin’s story, the Committee noted that the alleged “‘NORAD Episode’ … is open to serious question,” but they also added that “Indications are that if the two visitors did in fact exist, they were probably impostors.” (Condon, 450)

Ultimately, the Committee offered a somewhat inconsistent appraisal of the Heflin case, describing it overall as “inconclusive” and Heflin’s story as “internally inconsistent,” (Condon, 437) but also noting that “this case is still held to be of exceptional interest because it is so well documented.” (Condon, 454)

Majestic 12 Documents – Pre 1948

Posted on 23 October 2012 by olav

Memo to George Marshall  Memo to George Marshall from FDR, 27 February 1942 (49k)

This is the memo that links the UFO crashes with the Los Angeles Air Raid of 1942, since it occurred only three days earlier. It alludes to “atomic secrets learned from study of celestial devices” and authorizes “Dr. Bush to proceed with the project without further delay.” The reference to “this new wonder” is, to our knowledge, a unique phrase for the time. The writing of Source S-2 shows at the bottom of the page. Authenticity, for a retyped memo like this, is nearly hopeless to prove in court. Format details might be of some help if they are consistent with the style of the time.

Marshall to FDR  George C. Marshall to Franklin D. Roosevelt, 5 March 1942 (89k)

On March 5, 1942, George C. Marshall writes a top-secret memo to the President, which states: “regarding the air raid over Los Angeles it was learned by Army G2 that Rear Admiral Anderson… recovered an unidentified airplane off the coast of California… with no bearing on conventional explanation… This Headquarters has come to the determination that the mystery airplanes are in fact not earthly and according to secret intelligence sources they are in all probability of interplanetary origin.” Marshall goes on to state: “As a consequence I have issued orders to Army G2 that a special intelligence unit be created to further investigate the phenomenon and report any significant connection between recent incidents and those collected by the director the office of Coordinator of Information.” The memo bears correct Office of Chief of Staff (OCS) file numbers and has “Interplanetary Phenomenon Unit” (IPU) typed on it at a later time by a different typewriter. It is logical to believe that this is the order that sets up the IPU.

FDR memo  Franklin D. Roosevelt Memo on Non-Terrestrial Science and Technology, 22 February 1944 (117k)

On February 22, 1944 Franklin D. Roosevelt writes a DOUBLE TOP SECRET memo on White House stationary for “The special committee on non-terrestrial science and technology.” Both the title and the content clearly allude to extraterrestrial life, the former using the word “non-terrestrial” and the latter talks about “coming to grips with the reality that our planet is not the only one harboring intelligent life the universe.” Remarkably, the last four words are exactly the title of Sagan’s book co-authored with the Soviet scientist Shklovsky. Clearly the situation was that we had recovered at least one craft by then, probably the Cape Girardeau crash of 1941, and came to realize the wealth of technology that lay there for the pickings. Apparently the “Special Committee on Non-terrestrial Science and Technology” had been working some time in order to define a clear action. Dr. Bush had presumably presented a proposal from the Committee for an aggressive separate program to apply “non-terrestrial know how” to the war effort, but FDR thought that it would threaten the atomic bomb program. Thus, he carefully avoids saying “no,” but says that we will “take every advantage of such wonders that have come to us” after we have won the war. Very gracious letter. The classification “double top secret” was a legitimate one. We are currently (May 2000) requesting copies of similar correspondence from the Roosevelt Library for format and typography comparison. The signature, although not a strong discriminant, is consistent with other authentic signatures.

Oppenheimer Einstein Draft  Oppenheimer-Einstein Draft, June 1947 (494k)

This six-page document titled, “Relationships with Inhabitants of Celestial Bodies”, is the first document to use the phrase Extraterrestrial Biological Entities, or EBEs. It says the presence of unidentified spacecraft is accepted as de facto by the military – and this is dated June 1947. It deals with the subjects that you would expect competent scientists to deal with – i.e., where do they come from, what does the law say about it, what should we do in the event of colonization and/or integration of peoples, and why are they here? The document suggests that in the event that EBE’s desire to settle here on earth there will be “profound change in traditional concepts” of law and the possible need for a new “Law Among Planetary Peoples.” There is also propositions concerning the necessary creation of a “Cosmic International law” that would protect the rights of all celestial states to lay claim on otherwise unclaimed solar territories. Finally, the document addresses the presence of celestial astroplanes in our atmosphere as a result of actions of military experiments with fission and fusion devices of warfare. The authors of this document encourage consideration of our potential future situation and safety due to our present and past actions in space. How can we avoid a perilous fate?

Eisenhower to Ireland Memo  General Eisenhower Memo to Col. K. W. Ireland, 30 June 1947 (34k)

In this one-page unclassified memo dated 30 June 1947, Eisenhower orders Col. K. W. Ireland to take good care of Archbishop Francis J. Spellman on his tour through New Mexico. What seems unusual is President Truman’s personal involvement in this matter. The memo states: “By personal direction of the President of the United States, Archbishop Francis J. Spellman in his capacity as Military Vicar of the Armed Forces of the Army, Army Air Forces and the Navy, is making a tour of military bases in New Mexico, afterwards is making a trip over the routes of the Air Transport Command.” It is strange that this is a classified trip, as evidenced by the following statement: “General Webster has assured me that the Archbishop will have complete security at all times and that his presence at any air field will not be disclosed as his flight schedule is considered classified by order of AC/AS General Vandenberg.”

IPU Field Order  Interplanetary Phenomenon Unit Field Order, 4 July 1947 (43k)

This one page order directs the officer in charge (OIC) to take a counter intelligence team to the UFO crash site and report to the G2 (intelligence) at Condron Field, New Mexico, which, of course, is Roswell. OIC is to take along a non-commissioned OIC, an aeronautical engineer, a scientist, a security officer and a medical doctor, and to provide a report by the 28th of July.

Bush letter to Truman  Vannevar Bush Letter to President Truman, 5 July 1947 (206k)

On July 5, 1947, possibly as a result of the New Mexico events, Vannevar Bush writes a memo to Truman recapping the status of the earlier investigations. As an apparent follow up by FDR to Bush, FDR wrote another letter (which we don’t have) in April 1944 requesting recommendations on four specific points. This letter is Bush’s answer. It is presumed that the Top Secret/Eyes Only Operation Majestic-12 classification was added at a later date. The letter also shows an “OK” and a Harry Truman signature. This letter is stamped with the known authentic “original” stamp, and was probably produced by a typewriter because of the uniformity of letter spacing. We expect to show, of course, that this format was commonly used by OSRD typewriters of the era. Bush restates the FDR questions for Truman’s benefit, mentions the assistance of distinguished committees, alludes to the “many meetings since the events of this summer,” transmits the full reports as appendices, and proposes a “single mechanism for implementing the recommendations of the several committees.” Could this be one hugely classified program called “Majestic Twelve” at the end of the summer? The date of the letter, 5 July, was, of course, coincident with the recoveries going on in New Mexico at that very time. Harry Truman’s “OK” may have been prophetic.

Directive to Twining by Eisenhower  Directive to General Twining by Eisenhower, 8 July 1947 (86k)

On the 8th of July, Eisenhower got around to signing the authorization for General Nathan Twining, the head of the Air Materiel Command, to go to White Sands to “…make an appraisal of the reported unidentified objects being kept there.” With a team of experts, technicians, scientists and assistants, Twining was directed to not only appraise the unidentified object, but also to deal with the military, political, and psychological situation surrounding its existence in New Mexico.

Directive to Twining by President Truman  Directive to General Twining by President Truman, 9 July 1947 (324k)

On the 9th of July, Harry Truman signed a virtually identical letter authorizing Twining to re-visit White Sands to make another appraisal of the object being kept. It was desired that he “proceed with detachment from any opinions or feelings expressed by personnel involved which do not conform to sound reasoning with regard to possible outcome”. Someone apparently thought it was so important that the Commander-in-Chief put his name on the spot without “passing the buck.” Alternatively, Ike himself may have requested a “back-up” memo.

Air Accident Report by Twining to Headquarters, 16 July 1947 (570k)

This three page bureaucratic report provides the first glimpses of Lt. General Nathan F. Twinning’s Air Accident Report originally published in Leonard Stringfield’s (now deceased) Status Report VII, in 1994. Twining apparently describes in first order detail the inside of a “flying disc”, everything from the typewriter-like keys that control the propulsion system to a thirty-five foot doughnut shaped one-inch tube inside the craft filled with a clear substance and a coil of copper-like material. Twining, engineers from Engineering Division T-3, scientific personnel from the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, and other educated experts report that the object was not manufactured by the US, Germany, or Russia for a variety of reasons including; lack of any known design resemblance, lack of external propulsion system and power plant, and the lack of Identifying markings and/or numbers. The experts theorized about how the craft is powered, how it moves, and how and where it is controlled from, but there is no real knowledge beyond the theories. The inability for the experts to prove the object to be made in any of the advanced technological societies on earth is intriguing and thought provoking. The significance and consistency of the technical content has not been evaluated, although it is clear that the writing is consistent with 1947 state of the art, not modern.

Interesting list of metallurgical lab personnel as of July 17, 1947, that may have been unwittingly involved in analyzing and reverse engineering crashed wreckage.

Meteorological R & D Memo  Lt. Gen. Nathan Twining to Curtis LeMay: Meteorological R & D Memo, 18 July 1947 (403k)

This two page memo from Lt General Nathan Twining to Curtis LeMay activates a new laboratory to conduct meteorological research and development and upper air research with the Electronics Subdivision of the Engineering Division of the AMC. It states in part, “In view of the close relationship and interdependence of research in meteorology and research in electromagnetic compressional wave propagation, action is being taken to reorganize the present Applied Propagation Laboratory of Watson laboratories in the Atmospheric Laboratory, and expand its functions to include research and development in meteorology and related geophysical fields.” Later the memo goes on to state that “funds requested for F.Y. 1949 Project 680-11, Atmospheric Research and applied scientific research of the upper atmosphere, a total sum of $6,000,000 has been specified…” What a huge sum of money in 1949 to study the “upper atmosphere;” a more logical interpretation is that we are analyzing flying saucers, their technology, why they are here, and what are we going to do about it.

Counter Intelligence Corps/IPU Report  Counter Intelligence Corps/Interplanetary Phenomenon Unit Report, 22 July 1947 (415k)

This seven page document by the Interplanetary Phenomenon Unit begins by saying “…the extraordinary recovery of fallen airborne objects in the State of New Mexico between 4 July and 6 July 1947.” That’s the subject, and it goes on to state what the coordinates are, and other fascinating details of the recovery operations and discoveries. The most interesting being the discovery and basic detailed appearance of several bodies that were taken to the hospital at Roswell AAF and other near by hospitals (listed, but not disclosed for security reasons). The conclusion arrived at by the team of experts was unclear because of the limitations of contemporary science and appropriate budgets for future investigation, but leans to the possibility of a very well orchestrated Hoax by US societal outsiders or that “our country has played host to beings from another planet.”

CWO Marcrau Memo  CWO Marcrau Memo to Commanding General Army Air Forces, 12 August 1947 (80k)

This one page memo discusses the control of Restricted Data, which was used for both atomic activities and alien activities stemming from the New Mexico events. Cantwheel, the alleged source of much of these new documents, typed on the bottom of the document, “SAC wanted to keep certain AAF personnel from accessing the out-going messages from Roswell AAF to SAC headquarters that would identify AAF personnel responsible for the transport of classified material to Wright Field, and the personnel who were responsible for disposition of the wreckage and bodies found near Socorro and Corona, New Mexico.”

Flying Saucer Analytical Report  Flying Saucer Analytical Report, 2 September 1947 (90k)

This two-page Top Secret MAJIC Eyes Only report to General C. P. Cabell and commanding General of the Air Materiel Command from the Research and Development Laboratory is dated 2 September 1947. It provides a credible glimpse into the problems that faced the first analytical team to examine real crashed extraterrestrial hardware. Here are some quotes: “some nation has reached a stage of flight development in which the present ideas are entirely obsolete” and “the absence of riveting and surface over-lapping indicates a “‘simplistic’ concept that confronts our technology to match the “‘careful and well-considered compromises in respect to weight, aerodynamic refinement and design.'” A general description of the flying saucer craft is presented including a host of historically accurate AISI metallurgical tests. The research team did have success in identifying some control surfaces and exhaust ports and concluded the spherical reactor (hydrogen isotope type) was connected to propulsion motors.

Hillenkoetter memo to JIC  Hillenkoetter Memo to Joint Intelligence Committee, 19 September 1947 (324k)

The title of this document is “Memorandum for the Military Assessment of the Joint Intelligence Committee.” And for those of you paying special attention, you’ll notice that the acronym is MAJIC, which in fact turned out to be the code word selected. The four paragraphs say we need a classified intelligence project; we recovered one craft, captured one. It says no coordinated scientific examination is possible until we get a clear directive from the president. It also says Wright Field has a new biological laboratory, the Joint Research and Development Board and the FBI, MI5, MI6 are helping.

Twining's White Hot Report  Twining’s “White Hot” Report: Mission Assessment of Recovered Lenticular Aerodyne Objects, 19 September 1947 (1.3 MB*)
*please note this file may take up to 20 min. to download on a slow connection “No one, without express permission from the President, may disseminate the information contained in this report or communicate it to any unauthorized person not possessing MAJIC SECURITY CLEARANCE.” The White Hot report is a 19-page document, dated 19 September 1947 and signed by an appropriate cadre of military leaders on 24 September 1947. Several accounts of individual pilots were reported in 1947 with varying details that make each encounter a unique piece in a puzzle of phenomenon. In this particular year, sightings were reported “not only in the United States, but also in Sweden, Germany, Holland, Paraguay, Scandinavia, Greece, and by ships at sea.” Studied by classified teams of experts, many interesting and provocative details were recorded in this report of unidentifiable crash remains. The document is broken down into various sections that address concerns specifically: Preliminary Intelligence Estimate, Technical Evaluation, Scientific Probabilities, Political Considerations, and National Security Structure. In the preliminary estimate, experts of the AMC and ONR speculate that “the unidentified lenticular-shaped aerodyne…lacking conventional wing, fuselage, nacelle, control, and fuel systems” is not only foreign to United States technology, but is also unlikely to be of Russian origin, or for that matter, unlikely to have been designed to operate within the earth’s atmosphere. Several bodies were discovered along with the material of the crash, their existence and death just as mysterious as the cause of the crash itself. More interesting than these basic facts is the evidence that suggests “a symbionic relationship between operator and the functions of the aerodyne’s operation.” This particular leaked governmental document has a plethora of factual information linked to the retrieval and appraisal of the evidence collected from the recovered exhibits that “AMC, ASP, NEAP, ACE, ONR, NACKA, JED, RAND, USAF, SAG, and MIT, are deemed extraterrestrial in nature.” The White Hot report not only covers the factual evidence of the retrieval, but also sheds light on a number of conceptual concerns surrounding politics, National Security, nuclear weaponry, and the reasons behind keeping knowledge of this nature out of the public’s grasp indefinitely. It concludes, for the well being of the public, of course, and the protection of national security, that “the US must be perceived as being the top of the heap, and every effort must be made to insure that there is, and never has been, a threat to the country.”
Grow to Twining  Malcolm Grow to Lt. Gen. Twining – Aero Medical Laboratory, 20 September 1947 (86k)

Brig. Gen. Malcolm C. Grow writes a two page memo for General Twining describing the preliminary results of the post-mortem examination of the Air Accident Report filed 17 July 1947 (see above). Note the wide-ranging distribution list from people like Dr. Detlev Bronk and Dr. Randolph Lovelace to the AAF Scientific Advisory Group and Intelligence Departments. This perfunctory preliminary report is clear in its references to a UFO: “Collision in full flight with object other than conventional aircraft,” “Artifacts collected and assembled indicate that the unidentified aircraft…,” “The functions of the instruments found in the cockpit area are unknown at present; so there is no way to determine if the craft was manned or remotely controlled.”

Tucker Memo  Lt. Col. Tucker Memo to Office of Air Surgeon, 22 September 1947 (120k)

A bureaucratic memo with excellent checkable references discusses an Analysis of Factors Contributing to “Pilot-Error” Experiences in Operating Experimental Aircraft Controls written by Lt. Col. Tucker. Tucker and his correct period phone extension, memo format, and writing style have been verified in the National Archives. Tucker was part of the Aero Medical Laboratory, Psychological Branch. It discusses two incidents on 25 March and 4 July 1947 about S-Aircraft (PF) and interactions with symbolic instrumentation with tactile manipulation of flight controls.

Marshall to The President  Secretary of State Marshall, Memo to The President, 24 September 1947 (55k)

Marshall writes a memo to the President concerning the “Presentation of Report to the President Re; ULAT” dated September 24, 1947 that expresses concern about the timing of the internal release of this report. “It would be better to discuss the report during the meeting (National Security Council). This would give the members a better picture of the situation rather than having it released piecemeal.” Marshall goes on to say, “I further suggest that Twining present the findings of the Majestic-12 briefing to be given be the Director of Central Intelligence with a detailed showing of visual as well as written materials.” File references, format, and signatures suggest authenticity.

Truman to Forrestal  President Truman to Secretary of Defense James Forrestal, 24 September 1947 (35k)

So, five days later, President Truman, in that busy week of the 24th of September, 1947, decided that he would sign this document, which says, “Hereafter this matter shall be referred to only as Operation Majestic Twelve.” Unfortunately, researcher Stanton Friedman found another memo, with a nearly identical signature in this same week signed by Truman to Dr. Bush. How can that be? See the Authentication section for a possible answer.

Memo to General Spaatz  Memo to General Spaatz, 25 September 1947 (with Cantwheel commentsl; retyped copy) (39k)

This one page unclassified memo dated 25 September 1947 is directed to General Spaatz. It voices concern about the quality of the briefing given that day and wants the presentation package improved for the National Security Council (NSC) meeting the following day. Cantwheel’s comments typed in capital letters at the bottom sum up the sentiment, “The Secretary of Defense was unhappy with briefing of the AMC and R&D briefing officers and Symington wanted Bush and Twining to meet with Truman before NSC meeting on the 26th so that a more concise and explainable report of the discovery would be made.”

Marshall to President Truman  Secretary of State Marshall to President Truman, 25 September 1947 (116k)

This memo was signed top secret, MAJIC eyes only. It says “cryptographic (misspelled in original) security does not apply,” thereby revealing that this subject would normally be encrypted, but to expedite it they did not. The memo says that no indication of its contents is to be divulged to the public, referring to Twinning’s White Hot report discussed earlier. So this is Marshall telling Humelsine, the secretary to President Truman, to make sure that Truman realizes that he’s not going to let anything out to the public, and even suggests a “cover story.” The similarity of the handwriting to that in other documents poses an authentication challenge.

Twining to The President  Twining’s Report to The President, Parts I-V, 26 September 1947 (70k)

General Nathan Twining writes to the President on 26 September 1947 and respectfully submits his report on Flying Saucers. This is “In accordance with your instructions, advisors from State, Treasury, War, and Navy departments assisted me in a two month exploratory mission concerning the reality of other-world visitation.” The memo is impressive for its authentic looking pentagon Joint Chiefs of Staff and Combined Chiefs of Staff filing references along with clear older sized paper markings.

Marshall to Humelsine, 27 Sept 47  Secretary of State George C. Marshall to Carl Humelsine, 27 September 1947 (154k)

On 27 September 1947 George C. Marshall writes to his Executive secretary Carl Humelsine about the tragic consequences if the present rumors about New Mexico events are disclosed to the public. Humelsine is resistant to sign an agreement to remain quiet concerning these events because he has already heard about them through other sources. The memo states in part, “…(a) you are unwilling to commit yourself to any agreement regarding not communicating its contents to any other person in view of the fact that you felt you already knew certain of the things probably referred to in the memo, as suggested to you by seeing the security reference ‘MAJIC’ and b) you could not feel that such a letter as this could have been addressed to you without the knowledge of the President….” This ozalid (early carbon duplication) printing process memo is authentic for the era and would be difficult to fake.

Intelligence Estimate  “Unidentified Aircraft Sightings Over the United States,” Top Secret Eyes Only Intelligence Estimate, 30 September 1947 (844k)

This presidential briefing document is an intelligence estimate dated September 30, 1947 titled “Unidentified Aircraft Sighting Over the United States.” Prepared by the Special Studies and Evaluation State-War-Navy Coordinating Committee and the Office of National Estimates Central Intelligence Agency. It references both a TS Control No. 7300405, NSA authority and a NSCID (National Security Council Intelligence Directive) 6 Authority, NIA Directive.

The six page Top Secret Eyes Only covers essential elements of information, however, no discussion of wreckage, alien bodies etc., after all the briefing is about unidentified aircraft sightings. Main headings are: estimates of Soviet capabilities, domestic capabilities, estimate of the situation, estimates of interplanetary capabilities, and conclusions. The estimate of the situation and interplanetary capabilities make for very interesting reading.

The document is retyped and Source S-2 has handwritten at the bottom this is the best version available. It is allegedly annotated by Harry Truman “I want the Director of NSA to have this for future reference. October 24, 1952″

Vandenberg to Army Chief of Staff  General Vandenberg to Chief of Staff, 17 December 1947 (14k)

This memo from Vandenberg to the Army Chief of Staff does not clearly relate to UFOs. However, it is clear that the decision process at White Sands and Alamogordo was in turmoil and that clarification was needed. Possibly as a result of the UFO wreckage being stored there and different access requests and priorities. The addition of a senior Army Ordnance Officer being permanently assigned to work with the joint committee for range coordination was the resolution to improve local decision making. What could be so important that would involve top generals to clarify decision making? The leaked version (page 1), is nearly identical to a document we found at the National Archives, RG 341, Entry 174, Box 141 (page 2), showing the same language in Paragraph 1 but an additional clarifying paragraph has been added which states: “This agreement concerns only decisions on joint range problems and does not extend into command and administration matters at Alamogordo Air Base.” It is possible that either Vandenberg or the Army Chief of Staff upon seeing or reviewing the first memo might say “we need to clarify this so that no one misconstrues our intent and screws up the basic functions of Alamogordo Air Base.”

Majestic 12 (Maji / MJ12)

Posted on 23 October 2012 by olav

Majestic 12 (also known as Majic 12, Majestic Trust, MJ 12 or MJ XII) is the code name of an alleged secret committee of scientists, military leaders, and government officials, supposedly formed in 1947 by an executive order of U.S. President Harry S. Truman. The purpose was to investigate UFO activity in the aftermath of the Roswell incident, the purported crash of an alien spaceship near Roswell, New Mexico in July 1947. This alleged committee is an important part of the UFO conspiracy theory of an ongoing government cover up of UFO information.

The primary evidence for the existence of a group named Majestic 12 is a series of questionable documents that first emerged in 1984 and which have been the subject of much debate. The original MJ-12 documents state that:

The Majestic 12 group… was established by secret executive order of President Truman on 24 September, [sic – see discussion] 1947, upon recommendation by Dr. Vannevar Bush and Secretary of Defense James Forrestal.[1]

Dr. Bush was named as head of the group. The existence of MJ-12 has been denied by some agencies of the United States government, which insist that documents suggesting its existence are hoaxed. The FBI investigated the documents, and concluded they were forgeries, based primarily on an opinion rendered by AFOSI, the U.S. Air Force counter-intelligence office. Opinions among UFO researchers are divided: Some argue the documents may be genuine while others contend they are phony, due primarily to errors in formatting and chronology.

In 1985, another document mentioning MJ-12 and dating to 1954 was found in a search at the National Archives. Its authenticity is also highly controversial. The documents in question are rather widely available on the Internet, for example on the FBI website, where they are dismissed as bogus (linked below).

Since the first MJ-12 documents, thousands of pages of other so-called MJ-12 documents have also appeared, all of them controversial. Some have been proven to be unquestionably fraudulent, usually retyped rewrites of other totally unrelated government documents. The primary new MJ-12 document is a lengthy, linotype-set manual dating from 1954. It deals primarily with the handling of crash debris and alien bodies. Objections to its authenticity usually center on questions of style and some historical anachronisms.

However, before the appearance of the various dubious MJ-12 documents, unquestionably authentic Canadian documents dating from 1950 and 1951 were uncovered in 1978.[2] These documents mention the existence of a similar, highly classified UFO study group operating within the Pentagon’s U.S. Research and Development Board, and again headed by Dr. Vannevar Bush. Although the name of the group is not given, these documents remain the most compelling evidence that such a group did exist. There is also some testimony from a few government scientists involved with this project corroborating its existence.

MJ-12 is sometimes associated in recent UFO conspiracy literature with the more historically verifiable but also deeply secretive NSC 5412/2 Special Group, created by President Eisenhower in 1954. Although the Special Group was not specifically concerned with UFOs, and post-dates the alleged creation of MJ-12 in 1947, the commonality of the number ’12’ in the names of the two groups is intriguing. As the highest body of central intelligence experts in the early Cold War era (the Group was alleged to include the President but exclude the Vice President), the Special Group certainly would have had both clearance and interest in all matters of national security, including UFO sightings (actual or imagined) if they were considered a real threat.

As noted above, the primary source for MJ12’s alleged existence is a series of documents mailed anonymously to UFO researchers in 1982. However, the earliest mention of MJ-12 in any context was in a document given to Paul Bennewitz in 1980 as part of a disinformation campaign against him after he misinterpreted a secret Air Force project as evidence of extraterrestrial UFOs active on earth. As most of the information given Bennewitz was spurious, it immediately calls the accuracy of this early MJ12 document into question. One sentence in a lengthy document read:

The official US Government policy and results of Projest Aquarius is [sic] still classified TOP SECRET with no dissemination outside channels and with access restricted to “MJ TWELVE.”

As Greg Bishop writes, “Here, near the bottom of this wordy message in late 1980, was the very first time anyone had seen a reference to the idea of a suspected government group called ‘MJ Twelve’ that controlled UFO information. Of course, no one suspected at the time the colossal role that this idea would play in 1980’s and ’90s UFOlogy, and it eventually spread beyond its confines to become a cultural mainstay.”

Majestic 12 first entered the public consciousness in 1984 (Susan Wright writes that the documents first surfaced in 1982, but all other sources support a 1984 date). Television producer (and amateur ufologist) Jamie Shandera says he received a roll of film in the mail from an anonymous sender. Once developed, the film was of two documents: The first document was supposedly written by Harry Truman, authorizing the formation of a committee called “MJ 12″, charged with evaluating the 1947 Roswell UFO incident.

The second document was supposedly prepared by MJ-12 in 1952, to brief incoming president Dwight Eisenhower on the committee’s progress. The documents discuss United States Air Force investigations and concealment of a crashed alien spacecraft near Roswell, New Mexico.

All the alleged members of MJ-12 were notable for their military or scientific achievements, and all (except Edward Teller) were deceased when the documents first surfaced.

The alleged members of the Majestic-12 committee were:

  • Rear Adm. Roscoe H. Hillenkoetter
  • Dr. Vannevar Bush
  • James Forrestal (replaced after his death by Gen. Walter Bedell Smith)
  • Nathan Twining
  • Gen. Hoyt Vandenberg
  • Dr. Detlev Bronk
  • Dr. Jerome Hunsaker
  • Rear Adm. Sidney Souers
  • Gordon Gray
  • Dr. Donald Menzel
  • Maj. Gen. Robert Montague
  • Dr. Lloyd Berkner

Four of these men had reliably documented activities related to UFOs: Menzel wrote or co-wrote several debunking books; Hillenkoetter was a member of NICAP; while Twining and Vandenberg oversaw early U.S. Air Force UFO investigations, like Project Sign.

Shandera first publicly discussed the MJ-12 documents in a 1982 made-for-television documentary, The UFO Experience (Wright, p95-96). MJ-12 remained something of a fringe topic–even in ufology–until a few years later after the publication of Timothy Good’s best-selling book, Above Top Secret (1988), which reprinted the MJ-12 documents. Good also reported receiving photos of the MJ-12 documents from an anonymous sender.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation then began its own study of the MJ-12 documents: The MJ-12 documents were supposedly classified as “Top Secret”, and the FBI’s initial concern was that someone within the U.S. government had illegally leaked secret information.

Other MJ-12 documents have since surfaced, and again, opinions differ as to their authenticity. Susan Wright agrees with the mainstream consensus that the MJ-12 documents are phony, and speculates that they may have been disinformation.

Others have speculated that MJ-12 may have been another name for the Interplanetary Phenomenon Unit, an officially recognized military group active from the 1940’s through the late 1950s.

1991 In the United States the National Security Archive at the George Washington University in Washington files a Freedom of Information (FOIA) request concerning the secret stay-behind armies with the CIA in the interest of public information and scientific research. The CIA rejects the request with the standart reply: “The CIA can neither confirm nor deny the existence or non-existence of records responsive to your request.”
1995 In England the London based Imperial War Museum in the permanent exhibition “Secret Wars” reveals next to a big box full of explosives that the MI6 and SAS had set up stay-behind armies across Western Europe.
1995 In Italy the Senate commission headed by Senator Giovanni Pellegrino researching Operation Gladio and the assassination of former Prime Minister Aldo Moro files a FOIA request with the CIA. The CIA rejects the request and replies: “The CIA can neither confirm nor deny the existence or non-existence of records responsive to your request.”
1996 In Austria stay-behind arms caches set up by the CIA are discovered. For the Austrian government Oliver Rathkolb of Vienna University files a FOIA request concerning the secret stay-behind armies with the CIA. The CIA rejects the request and replies: “The CIA can neither confirm nor deny the existence or non-existence of records responsive to your request.”

Operation Gladio – The Illuminati’s Private Army

Posted on 23 October 2012 by olav

Gladio (Italian, from Latin gladius, meaning sword) is a code name denoting the clandestine NATO “stay-behind” operation in Italy after World War II, intended to counter an eventual Warsaw Pact invasion of Western Europe. Although Gladio specifically refers to the Italian branch of the NATO stay-behind organizations, “Operation Gladio” is used as an informal name for all stay-behind organizations.

Operating in all of NATO and even in some neutral countries or in Spain before its 1982 adhesion to NATO, Gladio was first coordinated by the Clandestine Committee of the Western Union (CCWU), founded in 1948. After the creation of NATO in 1949, the CCWU was integrated into the Clandestine Planning Committee (CPC), founded in 1951 and overseen by the SHAPE (Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe), transferred to Belgium after France’s official withdrawal from NATO in 1966 — which was not followed by the dissolution of the French stay-behind paramilitary movements.

The role of the CIA in sponsoring Gladio and the extent of its activities during the Cold War era, and its relationship to attacks perpetrated in Italy during the years of lead and other similar clandestine operations is the subject of ongoing debate and investigation. Italy, Switzerland and Belgium have had parliamentary inquiries into the matter.

After World War II, the UK and the US decided to create “stay-behind” paramilitary organizations, with the official aim of countering a possible Soviet invasion through sabotage and guerrilla warfare behind enemy lines. Arms caches were hidden, escape routes prepared, and loyal members recruited: i.e. mainly hardline anticommunists, including many ex-Nazis or former fascists, whether in Italy or in other European countries. In Germany, for example, Gladio had as a central focus the Gehlen Org — also involved in ODESSA “ratlines” — named after Reinhard Gehlen who would become West Germany’s first head of intelligence, while the predominantly Italian P2 masonic lodge was composed of many members of the neofascist Italian Social Movement (MSI), including Licio Gelli. Its clandestine “cells” were to stay behind (hence the name) in enemy controlled territory and to act as resistance movements, conducting sabotage, guerrilla warfare and assassinations.

However, Italian Gladio was more far reaching. “A briefing minute of June 1, 1959, reveals Gladio was built around ‘internal subversion’. It was to play ‘a determining role… not only on the general policy level of warfare, but also in the politics of emergency’. In the 1970s, with communist electoral support growing and other leftists looking menacing, the establishment turned to the ‘Strategy of Tension’ … with Gladio eager to be involved.”

CIA founder Allen Dulles was one of the key people in instituting Operation Gladio, and most of Gladio’s operations were financed by the CIA. The anti-communist networks, which were present in all of Europe, including neutral countries like Sweden and Switzerland, were partly funded by the CIA. Some went as far as claiming that Democrazia Cristiana leader Aldo Moro had been the “founder of (Italian) Gladio”. However, whether these allegations are correct or not, his murder in 1978 put an end to the “historic compromise” (sharing of power) attempt between the PCI and the Christian Democracy (DC), thus accomplishing one of the alleged objectives of a strategy of tension.

Operating in all of NATO and even in some neutral countries or in Spain before its 1982 adhesion to NATO, Gladio was first coordinated by the Clandestine Committee of the Western Union (CCWU), founded in 1948. After the creation of NATO in 1949, the CCWU was integrated into the “Clandestine Planning Committee” (CPC), founded in 1951 and overseen by the SHAPE (Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe), transferred to Belgium after France’s official retreat from NATO — which was not followed by the dissolution of the French stay-behind paramilitary movements.

Ganser alleges that:

Next to the CPC, a second secret army command center, labeled Allied Clandestine Committee (ACC), was set up in 1957 on the orders of NATO’s Supreme Allied Commander in Europe (SACEUR). This military structure provided for significant US leverage over the secret stay-behind networks in Western Europe as the SACEUR, throughout NATO’s history, has traditionally been a US General who reports to the Pentagon in Washington and is based in NATO’s Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) in Mons, Belgium. The ACC’s duties included elaborating on the directives of the network, developing its clandestine capability, and organizing bases in Britain and the United States. In wartime, it was to plan stay-behind operations in conjunction with SHAPE. According to former CIA director William Colby, it was ‘a major program’.

Coordinated by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), {the secret armies} were run by the European military secret services in close cooperation with the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and the British foreign secret service Secret Intelligence Service (SIS, also MI6). Trained together with US Green Berets and British Special Air Service (SAS), these clandestine NATO soldiers, armed with underground arms-caches, prepared against a potential Soviet invasion and occupation of Western Europe, as well as the coming to power of communist parties. The clandestine international network covered the European NATO membership, including Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Luxemburg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, and Turkey, as well as the neutral European countries of Austria, Finland, Ireland, Sweden and Switzerland.

The existence of these clandestine NATO armies remained a closely guarded secret throughout the Cold War until 1990, when the first branch of the international network was discovered in Italy. It was code-named Gladio, the Latin word for a short double-edged sword [gladius]. While the press said the NATO secret armies were ‘the best-kept, and most damaging, political-military secret since World War II’, the Italian government, amidst sharp public criticism, promised to close down the secret army. Italy insisted identical clandestine armies had also existed in all other countries of Western Europe. This allegation proved correct and subsequent research found that in Belgium, the secret NATO army was code-named SDRA8, in Denmark Absalon, in Germany TD BJD, in Greece LOK, in Luxemburg Stay-Behind, in the Netherlands I&O, in Norway ROC, in Portugal Aginter, in Switzerland P26, in Turkey Counter-Guerrilla, In Sweden AGAG (Aktions Gruppen Arla Gryning, and in Austria OWSGV. However, the code names of the secret armies in France, Finland and Spain remain unknown.

Upon learning of the discovery, the parliament of the European Union (EU) drafted a resolution sharply criticizing the fact (…) Yet only Italy, Belgium and Switzerland carried out parliamentary investigations, while the administration of President George H. W. Bush refused to comment, being in the midst of preparations for war against Saddam Hussein in the Persian Gulf, and fearing potential damages to the military alliance.

If Gladio was effectively “the best-kept, and most damaging, political-military secret since World War II”,[6] it must be underlined, however, that on several occasions, arms caches were discovered and stay-behind paramilitary organizations officially dissolved – only to be created again. But it was not until the 1990s that the full international scope of the program was disclosed to public knowledge. Giulio Andreotti, the main character of Italy’s post-WWII political life, was described by Aldo Moro to his captors as “too close to NATO”, Moro thus advising them to be wary. Indeed, before Andreotti’s 1990 acknowledgement of Gladio’s existence, he had “unequivocally” denied it in 1974, and then in 1978 to judges investigating the 1969 Piazza Fontana bombing. And even in 1990, “Testimonies collected by the two men [judges Felice Casson and Carlo Mastelloni investigating the 1972 Peteano fascist car bomb] and by the Commission on Terrorism on Rome, and inquiries by the Guardian, indicate Gladio was involved in activities which do not square with Andreotti’s account. Links between Gladio, Italian secret services bosses and the notorious P2 masonic lodge are manifold. In the year that Andreotti denied Gladio’s existence, the P2 treasurer, General Siro Rosetti, gave a generous account of ‘a secret security structure made up of civilians, parallel to the armed forces’ There are also overlaps between senior Gladio personnel and the committee of military men, Rosa dei Venti (Wind Rose), which tried to stage a coup in 1970.”

The Amero, The North American Union & Super Highway

Posted on 23 October 2012 by olav

The North American currency union is a theorized economic and monetary union of the three principal countries of North America, namely Canada, the United States, and Mexico. Implementation would probably involve the three countries giving up their current currency units (Canadian dollar, U.S. dollar, and Mexican pesos) and adopting a new one, created specifically for this purpose. The hypothetical currency for the union is most often referred to as the amero. The concept is modeled on the common European Union currency (the euro), and it is argued to be a natural extension of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America (SPP). Conspiracy theorists contend that the governments of the United States, Canada, and Mexico are already taking steps to implement such a currency. No current members of any country’s government have stated a desire to implement a “North American Union”.

Basis and origin
The letter A inside a circle. The proposed symbol for the amero, originally chosen by Herb Grubel in “The Case for the Amero”

The idea for a North American currency union was first proposed in 1999 by Canadian economist Herbert G. Grubel. A senior fellow of the conservative Fraser Institute think-tank, he published a book entitled The Case for the Amero in September 1999, the year that the euro became a virtual currency. Another Canadian think-tank, the C.D. Howe Institute, advocates the creation of a shared currency between Canada and the United States.

After the report came out, centre-left nationalist groups in Canada expressed their opposition to any currency union because they view it as an attempt by American businesses to gain access to Canada’s extensive natural resources while dismantling the nation’s social services. The 100,000 member strong Council of Canadians, a progressive advocacy group, has declared one of its central issues to be the threat of “deep integration”.

The idea envisioned is a currency union of the US dollar, Canadian dollar, and the peso, or the dollarization of Canada and Mexico.

One argument is that it would save up to $3 billion in currency transactions. The same authors also stated that Canada’s GDP could rise by up to 33 percent in a 20-year period given the adoption of a single currency.

The idea of a common currency has historically received more support in Quebec than in the rest of Canada; in a 2001 poll over 50 percent of respondents favoured the idea.

The possibility of a monetary merger has also been discussed in Mexico as a natural step to take after NAFTA. Former Mexican president Vicente Fox echoed that view and expressed his hope for a greater integration of Canada, Mexico and the United States, including an eventual monetary union, while on a 2007 promotional tour for his book “Revolution of Hope.”

Support in other regions

Lower levels of currency cooperation have been practiced in the Americas before. Some nations such as Argentina, Brazil and Canada have at times tied their currency to the U.S. dollar. Some of them, such as Aruba, Barbados and Cuba, still do.

The U.S. dollar is officially accepted alongside local currencies in El Salvador (since 2001), Nicaragua, Honduras, and Panama, although in practice two of these countries (El Salvador and Panama) are fully dollarized. In 2000, Ecuador officially adopted the U.S. dollar as its sole currency.

Unofficially, the U.S. dollar is treated as a de facto secondary currency in much of Central America and the Caribbean.

Currency integration is also one of the many long-term aims of Unasur (Union of South American Nations), a supranational organization comprising all the sovereign nations of South America, modeled after the European Union.

Criticisms and problems

Opposition to a North American currency union exists high up in the governments on both sides of the Canada–United States border. Herbert Grubel, the first proponent of the amero, admits that American officials show no interest in the topic. He concedes that “there wouldn’t be very much benefit for the United States” in an amero. Likewise, the Canadian Department of Finance strongly opposes the creation of a common currency with the United States, citing the loss of economic sovereignty. In briefing documents to Minister of Finance Jim Flaherty, finance officials concluded:

“A North American common currency would undoubtedly mean for Canada the adoption of the U.S. dollar and U.S. monetary policy. Canada would have to give up its control of domestic inflation and interest rates.”

From the point of view of the Canadian and Mexican governments, a major obstacle to the creation of a unified currency is the sheer dominance of the United States in any such union. Unlike any country in the EU, the USA has a larger economy than the rest of its respective continent/union combined.

A University of California, Santa Barbara paper puts forward the idea that the United States simply has too many advantages from the status quo to move toward a single currency. The United States dollar already acts as a global currency, meaning any transition to a ‘new’ currency would risk compromising this position and could cause a shift toward the euro or yen. The U.S. dollar is currently being used in over half of all the world’s exports, double the total United States foreign trade. The adoption of the amero could threaten the seignorage that America currently gains from its American dollar. While seignorage would still be gained from the amero, this would be shared among the Bank of Canada, the Federal Reserve, and possibly the Banco de México. Therefore, even if the amero were used just as much as the U.S. dollar, the advantages would be shared among two or more countries, and not exclusively earned by the United States.

Differing economic policies & situations

Several problems could arise in regards to macroeconomic management. By submitting to a common currency, the countries would lose considerable autonomy in the management of the currency itself, including the setting of interest rates. Amongst the three potential participants, there is considerable difference in policy which would have to be reconciled.

Debt is a factor affecting currency prices. As of 2008, the debt of the United States continues to increase, while the debt of the Canadian federal government is being reduced.[citation needed] This is a clear advantage for Canadians and it would not be reflected if the currencies were to merge. The importance of commodities also factors into this equation.

A concern with any unified North American currency is the differing economic situations between each country. The Eurozone is broadly similar being service-based economies[citation needed] based on high public spending (compared to the United States), high taxes and wealth being created by the sale of goods and services. North America on the other hand has three distinct economies; one based mainly on agriculture and manufacturing, with a demand for free trade (Mexico), another based on services such as retail, with low taxes and low public spending (United States), and a third based on services with higher taxes and higher public spending, with a large sector in primary goods such as oil, mining and lumber (Canada).

Political mandate

Lou Dobbs, a reporter and commentator for CNN, has posited that the formation of a “North American Union” is being approached without the knowledge and consent of the majority of the people who would be affected by this.

Conservative Caucus Chairman Howard Phillips, WND columnist and author Jerome Corsi, activist Phyllis Schlafly, among others, have formed a coalition against the amero. On January 22, 2007, Republican Representatives Virgil Goode of Virginia, Tom Tancredo of Colorado, Walter Jones of North Carolina, and Ron Paul of Texas were among the 43 federal lawmakers who introduced H. CON. RES. 40, a resolution that expressed:

“The sense of Congress that the United States should not engage in the construction of a North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) Superhighway System or enter into a North American Union (NAU) with Mexico or Canada.”

Some assert that having a single North American currency would be unconstitutional under the current U.S. constitution under Article 1, Section 8; which states that the United States Congress has the right to: “coin money, regulate the value thereof, and of foreign coin, and fix the standard of weights and measures;”

Rumors of “amero coins”

In August 2007, rumors and conspiracy theories began circulating across the Internet regarding alleged United States Treasury issued “amero” coins.

The inspiration behind these rumors may have been the posting of images of medallions created by coin designer Daniel Carr. Carr, who designed the New York and Rhode Island 2001 statehood quarters, sells medals and tokens of his own design on his commercial website, “Designs Computed” (also known as “DC Coin”). Among his designs are a series of gold, silver and copper fantasy issues of “amero coins” ranging in denomination from one to one thousand. The coins have the legend “Union of North America” on the back with his company’s logo, a stylized “DC”, in small typeConcerning his “amero” designs, he mentions on his website:

“My goal with these coins is not to endorse a Union of North America or a common “amero” currency. I fully support the United States Constitution, and I would not welcome (in any form) a diminishment of its provisions. I expect that these coins will help make more people aware of the issue and the possible ramifications. I leave it up to others to decide if they are in favor of, or against a North American Union. And I encourage citizens to voice their approval or disapproval of government plans that impact them.  ”

Unauthorized postings of images taken from his website have been reposted widely across the Internet, often being used as supposed “proof” of the amero coinage. Notably, Internet radio talk show host Hal Turner ran a full article on the “amero coin”, claiming to have arranged for a United States Government minted “amero” to be smuggled out of the Treasury Department by an employee of that organization.

Following Turner’s assertions of federal minting of ameros, a web site marketing the curio coins released a statement debunking Turner’s claims of a government cover up regarding Daniel Carr’s amero products. The debunking website Snopes also ran a further debunking of Turner’s claims, stating:

“Neither the U.S. Mint nor the U.S. Treasury has a hand in creating these ‘ameros’. These coins are merely collectibles offered to the buying public by a private company in the business of manufacturing such curiosities.”

Turner, refusing to believe that he had been duped, claimed that Carr’s website had been created in haste in a matter of days expressly to discredit his claim. Carr’s designs have been available through his website since 2005, and according to a WHOIS search at Network Solutions, the domain “” was registered by Daniel Carr on 27 September 2005.

NAFTA Superhighway

The Trans-Texas Corridor was first proposed by Texas Governor Rick Perry in 2002. It consists of a 1,200 foot (366 m) wide highway that also carries utilities such as electricity, petroleum and water as well as railway track and fiber-optic cables. In July 2007, U.S. Representative and candidate for the Republican nomination in the 2008 presidential election Duncan Hunter successfully offered an amendment to House Resolution 3074, the FY2008 Transportation Appropriations Act, prohibiting the use of federal funds for U.S. Department of Transportation participation in the activities of the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America (SPP).

Hunter stated that: “Unfortunately, very little is known about the NAFTA Super Highway. This amendment will provide Congress the opportunity to exercise oversight of the highway, which remains a subject of question and uncertainty, and ensure that our safety and security will not be compromised in order to promote the business interests of our neighbors.” Fellow Republican Congressman and presidential candidate Ron Paul brought the issue to mainstream prominence during the December 2007 CNN-YouTube GOP debate, where he rejected the concept and also called it “the NAFTA Superhighway” and, like Hunter, framed it within “the ultimate goal” of creating a North American Union.

The Ministry of Transportation for the province of Alberta displays a diagram on their website that labels I-29 and I-35 as the “NAFTA Superhighway.”

ABC TV Launched Subliminal Advertising Program for “The Mole”

Posted on 23 October 2012 by olav

Subliminal advertising on TV? I thought that went the way of easy bake ovens, Duran Duran, and the DeLorean? Yes I thought subliminal advertising was a fad of the 1980’s as well, and long gone but apparently ABC Television has decided that they NEED us as viewers to watch “The Mole” so badly they need to brainwash us to do it.

So what’s happened? The ABC Television Network, over the last few weeks has launched a subliminal advertising program for its re-launch of “The Mole.” Yes it’s really a subliminal advertising program, and I first caught it during an episode of Lost. A show well known for the weird Lost related advertisements for “The Dharma Project” or “Oceanic Airlines”, which I might add at the time really added to the show. Originally I thought the ad was a one off, and even being a conspiracy researcher I ignored it. Big mistake…because it came back. This time on Extreme Home Makeover (yes I watch it, I admit it..). So its been a couple weeks now and they are still on so now I’m breaking my silence, and I’m hoping as viewers we can send a message.

It’s obvious ABC Television really wants a good re-launch of the Mole, but I don’t think Mind Control is the proper way of doing it. It also begs the larger question of what else is ABC feeding over our airwaves. That’s a very good question, and one we can’t necessarily answer, because depending on the sophistication of the mind control operation we may never even see it, but what I do know is that they are actively using a brainwashing technique pioneered by the CIA and I as a viewer don’t like it.

One thing to point out is that from the point of view of subliminal advertising they did a bad job because I caught it, or maybe the conspiracy nut in me is just tuned for this. By the way if you don’t believe me to the right you can view an actual screen shot from my personal TV. That image was recorded during Extreme Home Makeover 05.04.08 and can be seen by stopping the video at about 40 minutes 58/59 seconds into the broadcast. Its visible for less then a second so you’ll need a DVR or VCR recording to catch it. Did you delete Extreme Home Makeover? That’s ok, watch Lost it will be there.

So what can we do about this? Well we need to send a message to ABC and let them know as viewers we don’t like being brainwashed. So we have a couple of options: the first is spread the word and let everyone know they are being manipulated, the second is to ban the ABC Television Network but I think we as viewers could actually do something more meaningful by starting a campaign to end this horrible and appalling advertising practice. ABC needs to understand MIND CONTROL IS NOT AN ACCEPTABLE FORM OF ADVERTISEMENT AND WE WILL NOT BE MANIPULATED.

So to that end this is what I propose. I propose as viewers we rise up and send a message, and let them know we’re not letting this happen. And in order to get that message across I think we should all send potatoes and lets let them know we are NOT potatoes who can be fed this information but instead we are thinking individuals who should be respected, and if normal advertisements for “The Mole” are not good enough then the show should be canceled.
